Who invented the internet is a question many of us wonder about. This massive network of computers, networks, and devices is an immense network of products and protocols. In fact, the TCP/IP protocol is the heart of the internet, without which it would not function. As such, the people who created TCP/IP are known as the inventors of the internet. The man who is most famed for  inventing the web is Tim Berners Lee.

Some people say that Al Gore, Vint Cerf, and Tim Berners-Lee invented the internet, but they are not the real inventors. While Al Gore was part of the government group that funded the ARPANET (the internet’s forerunner), he did not invent the concept of the internet but was an outspoken proponent of the ‘information superhighway’. However, his work contributed to the conception and construction of the internet. In the summer of 1976, the internet was working yet it took a couple more years to create the rules and regulations that govern the web. The first step towards the creation of the internet was taken by a group of researchers. At Stanford, detailed design work was done, and the first implementations of the internet began in 1975. By that time, a consortium of universities, including UCLA and BBN, began working on it. These research groups would later engage in the development of the internet and a number of other important projects that would eventually make the internet what it is today.
