What are the business’s priorities? Are owners consumed with working people non-stop, or are they putting people first? Make staff health important. The first is hard to stick with, feeling tired and frustrating. The latter opens up the possibility for creating a positive atmosphere in which employees see themselves as valued. Put health first by making the following three office changes.

1. Provide Better Snack Options

What are people consuming while at the office? Are they downing coffee and chips? If so, that isn’t stimulating the brain. Clean eating could improve clarity and promote better energy levels, avoiding that midday sluggish feeling. Consider changing out the machines to offer better choices. Look into healthy food vending machine Chicago Metro IL. Without the candy bars in sight, staff are less tempted by the bad and more likely to munch on something beneficial.

2. Allow for Doctor Checkups

Regular visits to a primary physician are useful in catching health complications before they become major concerns. High blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol issues are monitored through regular blood work. Doctors can advise on lifestyle changes to keep these levels within the right zones. Workers, though, might feel torn about asking for the time off. Encourage staff members to keep on top of these appointments. It’s a sign that management cares and puts the person before the job.

3. Have Break Time

In the past, companies felt that people should be at the desk from nine to five; however, recent research has shown that allowing for mental breaks could actually increase productivity. Offices may have a fun zone where employees can get together, decompressing from emails and projects. They may sit and chat or play a game or two. While it shouldn’t take up much of the day, a good 30 minutes of ping pong with a colleague might just spark a second wind to finish up the desk project.

When people realize they are cared for, they may just give a more effort and heart to the job. Prioritize their health.
