The nachos are one of those Mexican dishes that are known throughout the world and that almost all of us have consumed on occasion.

The nachos are prepared in many different ways, since it is a recipe with a lot of flexibility that allows you to use varied ingredients and make all kinds of combinations with them. Even within their home country, traditional recipes vary from state to state, so there are really many variants that are considered traditional.

This week we want you to put that Mexican touch so characteristic of your food. We will teach you how to prepare this simple, fast and delicious dish that everyone will like equally.

The recipe we propose today is one of the most typical. To make these nachos we will use ground meat that can be beef or pork, although if you prefer you can use chicken or mix several.

Ingredients to make nachos

  • 1 Package of corn tortillas, preferably natural without cheese
  • 200g of ground beef (beef, pork or chicken)
  • 1 green paprika
  • 1 red paprika
  • 1 large onion
  • Grated cheese (of your choice)
  • Salt
  • 1 Jalapeño (optional)
  • 1 Avocado 1 tomato and cilantro (optional guacamole)
  • Beans (optional)

Preparation to make nachos

To start, we season the meat with a little salt and let it rest a little. We start to peel the onion, removing the outer layer and then chop it into medium-sized pieces, in the form of little cubes. The peppers we wash them well, to remove the dirt, then we remove the stems and the seeds that they have inside, which have, that can give bitter taste if we do not remove them, and we chop them into pieces of the approximate size of the onion.

We use a good-sized skillet for our ingredients, add a little oil, and when it is hot we add the chopped onion to sauté it a little, with a little salt on top, add the chopped paprika, and let it cook over medium heat. 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, since we just want to soften them a little.

Once that time has passed, we add the meat to the pan and we will brown it a little for a few minutes, while stirring occasionally. While the meat is cooking, we can prepare if we want a quick guacamole by crushing the avocado and mixing it well with the cilantro and the tomato into small pieces.

At the end, we would only have to mount the plate of Mexican nachos, for which we will use a large tray or plate, in which we will form a base with the nachos, which covers well. Once we have it ready, add the mixture of meat, onion and peppers, well distributed over the nachos.

If you want to add a touch of extra flavor to the dish, cut some sliced jalapeños and add them on top, they are very rich. You can also add refried beans on top, as another presentation option. Finally we finish the dish by pouring plenty of grated cheese on top and we bake the dish at 200ºC with the heat of the oven above, for about 5 minutes, until the cheese is well founded, but be careful that it does not burn.

Serve them to eat them hot, accompanying them if you want with the guacamole, to combine them.
