Neck pain is an extremely common ailment that is going to affect almost all of us at some time in our lives. Many different factors can cause neck pain, and in many cases this isn’t even the indication of a much more serious problem. Neck pain can also come on with muscle spasms or tightness, and you may not be able to turn your head very far in either direction without feeling pain. One of the biggest ways that you can prevent neck pain is by maintaining good posture. Bad posture is a leading cause of chronic neck pain because it encourages stress on the muscles, joints, tendons and ligaments in your neck and head. Good posture also prevents neck injuries, such as strains and sprains. If you find that you are suffering from neck pain frequently, it is probably a good idea to talk to your doctor about changing your posture habits. You may just need to use pillows instead of your usual chair.
