Tacos and burritos are popular Mexican dishes but have distinct differences. For one, they are made up of different fillings wrapped in a tortilla.

A taco is smaller and trimmer than a burrito, usually using a soft corn tortilla to wrap. A burrito, however, is much thicker and more prominent and is made of a large flour tortilla.

Size

Burrito is a hand-held Mexican food consisting of seasoned meat or beans, vegetables, and other fillings folded in a tortilla like those from Big City Burrito. It may be served with sour cream, salsa, guacamole, or other condiments.

Traditionally, the size of a burrito is quite different from that of a taco. A fajita tortilla is typically 6 inches in diameter, and a burrito tortilla should be 10 to 12 inches in circumference.

Some people prefer to use large flour tortillas for their burritos. These tortillas are easier to work with than corn tortillas, which can tear easily.

A breakfast burrito is a taco typically filled with scrambled eggs, fresh chorizo, hash browns, potatoes, and grated cheese. It is sometimes served with bacon, carne asada, guacamole, and sour cream.

Choosing the right size tortilla is crucial to making sure your burrito can hold its fillings and doesn’t collapse in on itself. You should ensure that the tortilla is big enough to accommodate all of your fillings and that you fold the edges of the tortilla tightly on each side so that it doesn’t come out of the other side.

Fillings

The main difference between a burrito and a taco is the filling. A taco is a smaller dish than a burrito and contains meat and vegetables that are folded into something that resembles a cylinder.

Conversely, a burrito is thicker and more prominent with generous amounts of rice, beans, vegetables and meats. The fillings in a burrito can include any type of protein, including chicken, beef or pork.

Warm up a tortilla and spread some of your fillings to make a burrito. Start with a small amount of meat, add some cooked or canned beans, then sprinkle on some cheese and chopped tomatoes, onions and salsa. You can also add a variety of toppings, such as guacamole, radishes and more to give it a flavorful, zesty taste.

Garnishings

Tacos and burritos are tortillas filled with various vegetables, cheese, beans, meat, and other ingredients. However, the two meals have different garnishings.

A taco is a traditional Mexican food consisting of small hand-sized corn- or wheat-based tortilla topped with a filling and folded around the filling. A taco can be made with a wide range of fillings, including beef, pork, chicken, seafood, and vegetables, and it is often garnished with salsa, guacamole, or sour cream.

A burrito is a tortilla stuffed with more vegetables, cheese, beans, seasoned meat, and other ingredients. A burrito can also have a greater variety of toppings than a taco, and the shell is usually more giant.

Nutrition

Burritos can be very healthy, depending on the ingredients and portion size. They are excellent protein, fiber, and vitamins A, B, C, and E sources.

However, they can be extremely high in calories if you eat them frequently. A typical beef burrito can have as much as 555 calories, and if you include cheese, sour cream, and guacamole in your meal, you could be looking at over 1,000 calories.

When choosing a burrito, choose a healthier wheat tortilla. Wheat tortillas are more flexible and easier to roll and fold than corn tortillas.
